An error occurred downloading the following resource

This question is answered

Hi all,

I'm continually getting this error:

Microsoft Advertising Intelligence Setup downloading file 3 of 3

An error occurred while downloading a required file. You may retry downloading the file or cancel setup.

An error occurred downloading the following resource:
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=187780

Date: 4/4/2011 1:20:16 PM

See the setup log file located at 'C:\Users\sagel\AppData\Local\Temp\VSD18CD.tmp\install.log' for more information.

Is there any guidance anyone could give me for this?

  • Hi Sage,

Sorry for the delay in providing an update. I had the engineers re-look at the log and the DL provided was an incorrect link (it was for 2007 not 2010)

Since you are facing an error with o2010pia.msi, please use the below steps. It is same as the last time but the download link is different.

To install the Office 2010 Primary Interop Assemblies, click the Download button, then click Save and select a location for PIARedist.exe on your computer. Run the executable to extract the O2010pia.msi file. Double-click the O2010pia.msi file

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=938fe8ad-583b-4bd7-a345-23250dc15855

Once O2010pia.msi is installed, please proceed to install the advertising intelligence plug in.

    Sincerely, Gary F.

  • I've now tried installing it on three different computers here at the office. I'm getting the same general error on all of them.

For what it's worth, I'm running an all day key phrase research class tomorrow and Ad Intelligence was going to be a big part of the class.

If there is any way you might be able to look into this that would be really awesome.

    Thanks!

    Sage

  • I thought I'd also put the install.log info in here. The end says this:

  • Hi Sage, The engineers have looked into the install.log file. Based on the log the problem is occuring when installing o2007pia.msi. Can we try to install the o2007pia and then reinstall Advertising Intelligence. Offic2007pia can be directly downloaded from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=59daebaa-bed4-4282-a28c-b864d8bfa513. Steps: 1. Download the file from the link above. 2. Executing the PrimaryInteropAssembly.exe extracts the office2007pia.msi file. 3. Install o2007pia.msi from the loaction it was extracted to in the Step 2. 4. Install Ad Intelligence. Please let me know if these steps result in resolving the error. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Sincerely, GaryF
  • Hi Sage,

I wanted to send a quick follow-up to see if the resolution worked.

Sincerely, Gary F.

  • Hi Gary,

Thanks for following up. I am still not able to install it. I get this error:

Setup has detected that the file

'C:\Users\sagel\AppData\Local\Temp\VSD385D.tmp\Office2010PIARedist\o210pia.msi' has changed since it was initially published. Click OK to retry the download, or Cancel to exit setup.

  • Hi Sage, Thanks for the update. To confirm, after following the steps you received the new error and once clicking OK to retry the download it keeps looping to the same message? I've sent this up to the Engineers to review; but, if you can confirm that I'm correct that would be great. Thanks in advance! Sincerely, Gary F.
  • Hi Gary,

Thanks for your efforts here. That is all correct.

  • Hi Gary,

That last link did the trick. It's now working perfectly in 2010. Thank you for working with me on this.

    Take care,

    Sage

  • Thanks Sage, that's great news; I'll pass it along and thanks again for your patience!
