If I want to show different ad text to users in different geographic areas, do I need to set up separate campaigns for each targeted area?
If so will using the same keywords in different campaigns cause them to compete with one another and drive up bids?
You would need to set up different ad groups only, not a full campaign (ex. Campaign-Used Cars >ad group#1 Chevy, ad group #2 Ford) to achieve this goal. Please make sure that when you do create your ad groups that you set your "ad group settings option" to the option "define ad group level settings for targeting &exclusions". This is important because you plan on targeting different areas. Ad Center is designed for all ad group settings to follow suite to your campaign settings, so make sure you change that option. Using the same keywords will not drive up your bids. The words do not compete with each other because ad Center will alternate the ads associated with the keywords (depending how you set up the ad group).
