I represent a client who had just created a new Account with Microsoft Adcenter. I've build and Synced their campaigns through Adcenter Desktop and posted it with partial success. Most of the keywords and Ads went through fine, but a lot of Keywords didn't get posted due to an error (API Code 1542). Not sure what this is or how to get around it (I don't want to delete the keyword list I created).
Here is the message I'm receiving on Adcenter Desktop:
"An Unknown sync error (API code 1542) has occurred. Please try again later, if the problem persists, contact the adCenter Support Team"
I've called the support team and they have no idea (I guess there not informed about any API issues). I've tried reposting everyday now (about a week) and the error is still there.
Can you tell me how to get around this error?
Haven't come across this error before, usually the error messages are much more descriptive.
Most common issue here is duplicate kws (including match type) - have you checked on this?
Yes, I had both duplicate Keyword Errors and this (API 1542) error. I've deleted the duplicate keywords and have been trying to figure out what would be the cause of (API Code 1542) but can't seem to figure it out.
I've been told that there had been changes with Keyword uploads and preferences, but not sure if this applies to this API error.
Let me know,
Thanks for your POSTS! On the Error Code API 1542 here is what I found:
Base table fields have been changed and no longer match view fields. View field properties cannot be set (Error 1542)
Visual Studio .NET 2003

The name or number of columns in the base table or base view of a view definition have been changed and no longer match the view definition.
• View properties cannot be loaded into the view cursor.
Recreate or modify the view to reflect the structure changes in any base tables/views.
Here’s the link [and a few more] I hope this answers your questions.

@Dixie60 Seriously you MUST be joking Dixie60. Microsoft Adcenter's error messages are the LEAST descriptive of ANY platform I've ever encountered. To say that their error messages are "usually... much more descriptive" tells me you clearly have not used Adcenter Desktop or Adcenter in general for very long.
John, that's great. The question is:
1. What is api code 1542? (what is the problem)
2. What is the action to take to resolve this? (what is the solution)
Do you have answers to either of these two questions?
Thanks for your POST! There are several reasons that type of error would occur. Normally I would advise a client to make a copy of the list and reinstall Desktop. Ensuring your computer had all the latest Microsoft Updates. Keyword downloads from Desktop to ad Center are tricky. There may have been adult keywords, which won’t transfer. Keyword lists from a third party keyword generator sometimes won’t work because the columns don’t match. And as I posted, “Base table fields have been changed and no longer match view fields. View field properties cannot be set (Error 1542).” Which specifically answered this question. Do you have a specific problem I can assist with?
